What Women Want Featuring Jennifer Polachek

Jenny Polachek

We know what women want, which is why we’re interviewing top business savvy women on their top travel essentials.

This week in “What Women Want,” we will be featuring Jennifer Polachek. Jennifer Polachek is the Associate Publisher of Angeleno Magazine and the Publisher of Interiors California and Brides California. Angeleno Magazine is a publication with Modern Luxury, the largest publisher of city magazines in the country spanning 42 titles in 14 markets.  Ms. Polachek is originally from Chicago, where she has spent most of her life and career, prior to moving to Los Angeles in October 2012 to take on her new role.

•         What’s the most unconventional item in your carry-on?

Does my French bulldog, Duke, count? Now that I spend a majority of my time going to and from Chicago, Duke and I travel together. He’s become quite the traveler, and is always a crowd pleaser.

•         At 10,000 feet, what gadget do you reach for?

My iPod. I always tell myself I will work on the plane, but as soon as I sit down, I realize it’s time for me to relax!

•         What book or e-magazine is currently on your Kindle or iPad?

Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and obviously every Modern Luxury publication!

•         What is your guilty pleasure purchase at Kiosk before take-off?

I always grab the biggest bottle of water I can find, typically Smart Water, and of course, a weekly celebrity magazine.

•         If you could create an app to help you with your travels, what would it do?

A way to get to and from Chicago in less than 3 hours! No, it would be an app that could store my personal life to-do list and my professional life to-do list in one place: my travel schedule, hotel stay, car arrangements, weather report, calendar of meetings in both LA and Chicago (with the proper time zone!), my music, and the work that I intend to do on the plane with a chat option to my LA based team so that as I am working, I can receive the appropriate answers on demand versus email.

•         What’s the most recently played downloaded song on your iPod or Spotify?

Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips, and Right Now by Rihanna.

•         Fill in the blank: LAX –>

______ a la Virgin America. It’s the only way to fly!  It is hard for me to fly anything else now that I have had the luxury of flying Virgin America.

  • What’s the most unconventional item in your carry-on?

A few years ago at Christmas, my adorable little cousin Jenna gave me a pin of a guardian angel on a plane that I’ve pinned inside my carry on ever  since.

  • At 10,000 feet, what gadget do you reach for?

My MacAir.

  • What book or e-magazine is currently on your Kindle or iPad?

Eat, Drink & Succeed of course, and People Magazine.

  • What is your guilty pleasure purchase at Kiosk before take-off?

Twizzlers…the longer the flight, the bigger the bag.

  • If you could create an app to help you with your travels, what would it do?

Can’t tell you….in development!

  • What’s the most recently played downloaded song on your iPod or Spotify?

“Clarity” by ZED.

Wednesday Wellness Tip: Betsy Wickliffe

CHIPH_P155_NomiSpa_48644_med

At NoMI Spa, wellness extends far beyond the spa doors. Today we share our Wednesday Wellness tip from our NoMI Spa Concierge, Betsy Wickliffe:

The greatest of all wealth is health. Your health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Sometimes we work so hard to preserve the health of the body that we forget to take care of our mind. Take time to relax and meditate and remember that the most healthiest are the ones that take care of their mind first.
